Women's Spiritual Status in Holy Scriptures

This is certainly not a very pleasant topic for Women really. However, Just to bring to your awareness of the woman's part is of a functional nature in her divinely assigned role. Let us make a list of scripture to understand and bring about conviction in the Women's hearts. A women who is obedient, submissive and meek in nature are a blessing to her family and the Congregation she is serving. Well just in case some Man out there cannot resist tempting to know what is written in this page, here is a short message for them : Man ought not to abuse their rights over the Women. The Bible says:"Husbands, love your wives, even as Moshiach also loved the Assembly, and gave himself for it;" (Ephesians 5:25) and also "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered." (1 Peter 3:7) Do the Husband find it hard to love your wife?

RITUAL PURITY - Niddah; Tumah; Tzara'at
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (Beresheet 3:16)
Each recipient of Elohim's judgment receives a judgment, which is not necessarily related to the nature of the sin committed. Sin has alienated the intimacy between Elohim and man, as well as the intimacy between man and woman. However, the alienation does not change the woman's desire for the man, nor does it eliminate the man's headship over the woman or remove the command to populate the earth. This alienation does distort Elohim's plan, and this verse clearly describes the conditions existing in a fallen world, i.e., pain in childbirth, tyranny in headship, and rebellion in submission. The "desire factor" is an explanation of existing conditions after the Fall. The judgment upon the woman is certainly not found in childbirth, which has always been Elohim's plan for producing the next generation, but rather in the difficulties that will accompany the bearing of children. Elohim's continued grace is evident, however, when redemption comes through the woman's childbearing (cf. 1 Tim. 2:15, note).
Vayikra 12:2-5
"Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a MALE child: then she shall be unclean 7 DAYS; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying 33 days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled. But if she bear a FEMALE child, then she shall be unclean 2 WEEKS, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying 66 days."
Ecclesiastics 7:26-28 "And I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases Elohim will escape her, but the sinner she will ensnare....while I was still searching but not finding, I found one upright man among a thousand but not one upright woman among them all".
Why is Menstruation of the woman consider unclean? It is associated with death
The reason of Menstruation of women consider unclean it is associated with death. The dead body of a human being is the strongest form of "tuma" because it represents the greatest loss of spiritual potential. Similarly, the unfertilized egg, aborted foetus, accidental miscarriage, still birth that are shed during menstruation or sever bleeding are also a form of tuma because it could have housed a soul if it had been fertilized. Never again will the minuscule egg have the opportunity to become a human being and carry the amazingly complex human soul. The state of tuma, the state resulting from contact with death, is not a negative thing. If a person buries a dead person, he too becomes tamei (adjective form). He is not contaminated; in fact, burying a dead body is such an important mitzvah that it takes precedence over almost all others (Maimonides, Yad HaChazkah, Laws of Mourners, 14:9; Shulchan Aruch, "Escorting the Dead," 361:1). Thus, being tamei is most certainly not a state of spiritual inferiority. It means only that the person involved cannot participate in certain rituals.
Is Women only being unclean? Let see what the Scripture below says.
Discharges Of Man and Women Uncleanness cause others unclean. (Niddah) (see article Principle of understand Mikveh)
All men and women have discharges when something flows from the body. These discharges made the man and women unclean. The unclean person made others unclean, on the bed, clothing, or anything he/she might sit on.
This chapter teaches us that we have sin in our inner nature. When this evil comes out others are made unclean (sin). Bodily Discharge in both Man and Women represents your secret sin in which you thought no one in the world saw and know what you are doing. Only the Lord Yeshua the Messiah can make us clean and only the Blood Atonement of the Messiah can keep us clean.
We must be alway keep our personnel cleanliness and our daily walk with the Lord must be clean so not to stumble and cause others to sin.
Leviticus 15:2-18 Bodily discharge and semen (death of the wasted seed) when expose out of the body are unclean and gets contaminated.
Leviticus 15:19-30 (quote from Complete Jewish Bible)
19 "If a woman has a discharge, and the discharge from her body is blood, she will be in her state of niddah for seven days.. Whoever touches her will be unclean until evening.
20 Everthing she lies on or sits on in her state of niddah will be unclean.
21 Whoever touches her bed is to wash his clothes and bathe himself in water; he will be unclean until evening.
22 Whoever touches anything she sits on is to wash his clothes and bathes himself in water; he will be unclean until evening.
23 Whether he is on the bed or on something she sits on, when he touches it, he will be unclean until evening.
24 If a man goes to bed with her, and her menstrual flow touches him, he will be unclean seven days; and every bed he lies on will be unclean.
25 If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days not during her period, or if her discharge lasts beyond the normal end of her period, then throughout the time she is having an unclean discharge she will be as when she is in niddah --- she is unclean.
26 Every bed she lies on at any time while she is having her discharge will be for her like the bed she uses during her time of niddah and everything she sits on will be unclean with uncleanness like that of her time niddah.
27 Whoever touches those things will be unclean; he is to wash his clothes and bathes himself in water; he will be unclean until evening.
28 If she has become free of her discharge, she is to count seven days; after that, she will be clean.

(Lev 20:18 NNAS) 'If there is a man who lies with a menstruous woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
A menstruating woman are unclean for sexual intercourse. However in the spiritual sense she is considered perfectly clean. That mean she should have a mind and spirit right before Elohim.
(Ezek 18:5,6 NNAS) "But if a man is righteous and practices justice and righteousness, and does not eat at the mountain shrines or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, or defile his neighbor's wife or approach a woman during her menstrual period

Should a Women in her stage of Niddah (Menstruating) attend Santuary?

12:4And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
Niddah for Non-Jews believer
Does women need to be circumcise (Brit Milah)?
The answer is definitely no. Women only undergo Mikvah (immersion). She is to practice Niddah. No where in the scriptures does women need to be circumcise. Circumcision are for men only. Moreover practice circumcision of women in some countries involves removing the clistors that would probably result in severe infection, excessive bleeding and loss of sexual pleasure in her marriage life.

Are Women second class citizen in Heaven?

Does women have a part in the Salvation?

"The ADoNaY is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Moshiach Yeshua." (Galatians 3:28)
"For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him." (Romans 10:12 KJV)
"For whosoever (every race, Nationalities, male, female, boys; girl, Jews, Gentile, old and young) shall call upon ( the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
Comment:There is no contradiction to the equality and unity we experience "in the Messiah," which transcends all racial, ethnic, social, national or sexual distinctions.

Warning against living in the habital lifestyle
"Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,"idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of YaH." (Galatians 5:19-21 NNAS)
Galatians 5:21: The phrase "those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of YaH" should not be interpreted to mean that the person who, at any time, commits one of these sins will go to hell. The present tense of the participle "practice" (prassontes, Gk.) indicates that what is warned against here is a habitual lifestyle. One who habitually lives in such a manner will not "inherit the kingdom of YaH."

The present day Women in the Assembly should take note. (Read 1 Corinthians 11:2-16)

But I want you to understand that Messiah is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and YHVH is the head of Messiah.(1 Cor 11:3 )
In the above verse Shaul (Paulos) explains are in this following order

Women
(Man's glory keep hidden- need head covering

and also modesty must be maintain)
** Under the Levitical practice, Messiah Yeshua wears headcovering when He carries out the responsibitity of leading the people and the other priests as they come before YHWH at the time when He dwell among us. Messiah Yeshua came to serve as our Kohen HaGadol, therefore He need to have his head covered to show his dedication to Eternal ONE.

What the Brit Hadashah (Renewed Covenant) has to say about women?

1 Timothy 2:11-14 "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."
1 Corinthians 14:34 "Let your women keep silence in the Assemblyes: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the Assembly."

Comment:

This does not represent the prejudice against women however it is Yahweh's who instruction that women should not have a public teaching ministry in the Congregation. She could only teach children (2 tim 3:15) and young women as in Titus 2:4. It is never Elohim's will that the women should have authority or dominion over the man. This is the very order of the creation.
By creating Man first Elohim intended him to be the head, the one who would exercise direction and authority.
The failure of Eve was that she took matter in her own hand. She should have gone to Adam and put the matter before him. Instead of allowing herself to be deceived by satan, fell into transgression and bring about destruction the whole human race.
1 Corinthians 11:5-10: "But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of Adonai Eloheinu: but the woman is the Kavod of the man. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels."
1 Corinthians 11:13: "Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto Elohim (with her head) uncovered?"
"because a ba'al (husband) is rosh of the isha as also Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach is rosh of the Brit Chadasha Kehillah, being himself the Moshi'a (Savior) of HaGuf HaMoshiach. " (Ephesians 5:23 [BERESHIT 47:18; TEHILLIM 16:9-10; IYOV 19:25-27; YESHAYAH 53:11[BERESHIT 47:18; TEHILLIM 16:9-10; IYOV 19:25-27; YESHAYAH 53:11])
"Nashim (wives), make yourselves accountable to your ba'alim (husbands) as to Adoneinu," (Ephesians 5:22/cf [BRSHT 3:16] )
"But womankind will be saved through her childbearing if nashim remain in emunah and ahavah and kedushah with tznius [2:9]" (1 Timothy 2:15)
1 Timothy 2:15: With Gen. 3:16 and its link between Eve's sin and the pain of childbearing still in mind, Paul provides a note of comfort. Before the Fall, Elohim issued the command for reproduction of future generations (Gen. 1:28), but the pain in childbearing developed as a result of sin, which brought with it suffering and the distortion of the Edenic Paradise. The Elohimly behavior of a woman will be rewarded by her awesome contribution in joining with the Creator Elohim in the process of producing the next generation. Through a willingness to bring life into the world and nurture that life physically and spiritually, a woman is obedient to the redemptive plan of Adonai Eloheinu.
  1. Women should learn in silence and subjection in the congregation.
  2. Women should not teach in the Congregation.
  3. Women should not have authority over men but should remain silent.
  4. Adam and Eve were not equal in sin. Adam was not deceived but Eve was.
  5. Women are commanded to be under obedience to men. Elohim ordained that men shall for all time rule over women
  6. Women must keep silent in the Assembly. It is shameful for them to open their mouths therein. If they have a question they should ask their husbands before going to the Congregation and then their husbands will ask for them in the Assembly.
  7. A woman should pray and profess with her head covered .
  8. If a woman prays with her head uncovered then she might as well shave her head.
  9. In the presence of ministering angels, who were attendant upon gatherings of the Assembly, women were to demonstrate their submission to their respective husbands by wearing "authority," which was symbolized by a head-covering (v. 10). (3) This practice was based upon the prior creation of man, who then is in the image of Elohim in terms of authority.
  10. The woman was created for the man (v. 8). The passage reflects no antagonism toward women. This text, and indeed the entire corpus of Scripture, affirms the essential equality of men and women. Subordination on the woman's part is of a functional nature in her divinely assigned role.

    Question to think about?

    • What do woman view for those who have husband who are less spiritual than they are? Should she assume her authority or dominion over the husband? What should she do?
    • What about those who has husband who are non-believers? I probably think of Queen Esther as a very good example.
    • Should a woman submit to all man in general?
Some say that she only submit to their own husband. I could view ''submit" as a sense a respect them as HaSheim-given authority to manage an organisation not as a type of subjection. Do not despite or run them down if do not live up to your expectation.
Let us extent our help and prayer support for those women who had difficult husband who battered them. In Singapore the Government has step up law to protect women being abuse and also set up community group to help counsel those couple to cope with marriage crisis. The reasons for some men to batter their wives was because they do not know how to deal with some of question or problem in which their wives keep asking them. Some traditional Asian men brought up under Confucian are very dominant and demand respect from their wives. They feel insecure if their wives comes after him.

The women draw the light of Torah and the Light of Yeshua into her home on every Shabbat. She prepares or get ready her household for shabbat rest in the Messiah and she get her household ready for the Sukoth (Messiah's return). She ensure all her home needs are met. This is her attributes such is the beauty of Shabbat in the home.
Beware The nagging women drive out or draw back the Divine glory of Elohim or grieving the Holy Spirit. Would women who demand the right or does she wants the relationship? Let us examine our life work this out which do we want. Also we are told that "The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the ADoNaY shall fall therein." Proverb 22:14 Eccl 7:26. The sukkoth of the strange women will sink.
    KIDDUSHIN; BETROHAL; QUEEN OF SHABBAT
The Hebrew word for marriage Kiddushin /betrothal comes from the three letter Hebrew root (K= Kaf; D=Dalet; SH=Shin). On the day of the wedding in the Jewish Scripture ceremony , the Bride is seen as a queen and the groom is seen as a king . Therefore, "queen" and "bride" are two terms used to describe the weekly Shabbat day (Talmud, Shabbat 119a). Since the Shabbat is seen as being a queen and a bride, it represents the feminine element of creation.

The Older Women should;

  • Behave respectfuly. In the same way, wives submit to your husbands; so that even if some of them do not believe the Word, they will be won over by your conduct, without your saying anything, as they see your respectful and pure behaviour. Your beauty should not consist in externals such as fancy hairstyles, gold jewelry or what you wear; rather, let it be the inner character of your heart, with imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit. In Elohim's sight this is of great value. This is how the holy women of the past who put their hope in Elohim used to adorn themselves and submit to their husbands. (1 Kefa (Peter) 3:1-5 complete Jewish Bible)
  • Speak Truthfully - (Col 4:6) Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
BEWARE:-(James 3:5) Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
  • Avoid Alcohol, other form of addiction (smoking, gluttony, drugs that lift you feeling high) Ephesians 5:17-20, becoming drunk makes evil our master thus puts us in the list of wicked behaviour mention in Galatians 5:19-21
  • Be good examples - practise what you preach; (1 Th 1:6 ) You also became imitators of us and of the ADoNaY, having received the word in much tribulation with the joy of the Ruach HaKodesh,
  • Be ready to teach younger women Elohim expects older women (mature) to be watching over the younger women. They can guide younger women toward the life that will be pleasing to Elohim. Be ready to share your spiritual experience with those who are younger. There is a problem for Working women of today. When women went to work much of their gathering as women stop functioning. Their time and energy has channel to secular work and coping with heavy loads of family responsibilities. Because of these women were not able to get their emotional support from women they expected to get all that they needed from their husbands. Frankly men by nature are not relationship oriented but they are work oriented. Thus these working women began to feel empty and their emotional needs unmet soon lead to murmuring, frustration, disappointment and anger.
It is good that there are some congregation who sees the need to address these problems by having a sister ministry in an Assembly. Where women get together, helping one another, learning to exercise priesthood in women gathering and working in line with the Assembly ministries. The sisters ministry also provide emotional support, encouragement, praying for one anothers needs and spiritual nourishment.

The Younger Women must be willing to learn:

  • to love their husbands
  • to love their children
  • to control themselves, such as anger and argumentative.
  • to live pure lives
  • to make their home their first priority
  • to kind, meek and compassionate. (1 Pet 2:1 NNAS) Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
  • to obey and submissive to their husbands.- (1 Pet 3:1 NNAS) In the same way, you wives, be submissive (to place under) to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,It is most important lessons is the necessity of submission to the will of Elohim. Why is this so? Because, Elohim uses relationships in daily life as a method of instruction for teaching submissiveness to Him. Be careful not to let your life be a noodge or a nudnik (Yiddish for "nag" and "bore") The presence of an unbelieving husband becomes an occasion for the demonstration of Holy conduct on the part of the wife as a means of winning the unbelieving husband to Messiah.
Let us received His Word with grateful thanks and appreciation.
Therefore whosoever seek and diligently obey His Word will be well pleasing in the sight of Elohim.
    Shalom in Yeshua

Headcovering for Women in Jewish perspective

In biblical and talmudic times, as a sign of modesty and chastity, women covered their heads with scarves. A scarf used for this purpose is referred to in Yiddish as a tichl. The sixteenth century code of Jewish Law stats: "Married women always keep their heads covered," for the sake of modesty to make their marital status perfectly clear.
Modesty in Dress-The Principal Law
Jewish perspective of Women's Headcovering - by Rabbbi Yehudah ben Shomeyr - the perspective of modesty
What areas must women and girls cover to dress modestly?
All women and girls, married or unmarried, must cover all parts of their main body (torso) plus parts of their arms and legs when in public or in the presence of individuals outside their immediate family. Under no circumstances may even a small part of these areas be uncovered in the presence of men or boys. These areas naturally provoke attention and must therefore be covered by decree of halacha (Jewish law). There status as ervah (areas that must be covered) has been established by Chazal (our sages) and is not dependant on the local or prevailing custom. Accordingly, even if most Jewish women would chas v'shalom (G-d forbid) not cover these areas properly, the halacha (law) would still remain the same. read more.......http://www.modestworld.com/laws.html#a

Non-Jews and the Headcovering

It is considered desireable for a non-Jewish women to wear a skullcap when present at a Jewish Service.
Ellen Kavanaugh in her article on the Headcovering quote "If hair is so sexy that it must be kept covered, then the above verse reads tackily -- as if Mary was trying to arouse Yeshua.(Yochanan/John 12:3 ) Clearly hair did not have any such deep sexual connotations attached to it. Furthermore (assuming hair's sexiness was the reason for the covering) the command to cover is given only to married women (again, notice single Mary wore no such covering). Yet wouldn't many single teenage girls be the ones more likely to entice with their appearance? In fact wouldn't they be the ones most needing this modest head covering? While certainly a woman's hair is attractive and a delight for her husband, I cannot agree that the command to cover a woman's head is strictly because of its attractiveness. The headcovering Sha'ul refers to is less about looks and modesty, and more about showing a woman's
1) marital status and
2) her submission to her husband's headship over her and finally,
3) as evidence for the angels to witness this submissive act (possibly also as a positive example for fallen angels to see -- those who had rejected Elohim's headship and refused to submit to Him). "

Tzeniut is the group of laws concerned with modesty, in both dress and behaviour. It is first mentioned in this context by the prophet Micah (6:8): "[...] and to walk humbly (hatzne'a lechet) with your God". The root form is Tzadei, Nun, Ayin.
In its wide definition, Tzeniut means placing limitations on arousing other's feelings, be it frustration, annoyance, anger or lust. In its limited sense, Tzeniut has come to mean Judaism's "dress code", as nowadays practiced by orthodox Jews
  • Strict adherence to Halakha (codes of Jewish law).
  • A range of beliefs towards modern culture which vary from careful acceptance of some parts of modernity, to outright rejection of parts of modernity considered immoral.
  • A range of beliefs towards modern forms of historical scholarship and text study. Ultra-Orthodox,Hasidic and some Modern Orthodox Jews hold that almost all such forms of learning are forbidden and heretical. However, many Modern Orthodox Jews hold that modern forms of historical scholarship and text study may be used in some or all areas of Jewish thought.

Practical applications

Examples of Tzeniut-laws are:
  • The covering of hair by married women
  • The length of arm sleeves (below the elbow)
  • Not showing the separation between the thighs (i.e. wearing skirts) by women

Rabbi Othniel teach about the lighting of the candles

Due to Eve's disobedience and non-submision the light was withdrawn
Now the Messianic Women in Yeshua come to submision and obedience unto Adonay,
Read Article the Role of Women in the Assembly
In Biblical times, women covered their heads with veils or scarfs a sign of chastity and modesty. The unveiling of a woman's hair was considered a humiliation and punishment (Numbers 5:18, Isaiah 3:17, II Maccabees 4:6, Sus. 32). In the orient, the head was covered as a gesture of respect, in the presence of a notable, an elder or scholar. From this followed the practice of covering the head in the presence of Elohim at worship, the practice becoming a sign of piety. Girls did not have to cover their hair until the wedding ceremony (Ket. 2:1). In some contemporary Sephardic communities, however, it is the custom for unmarried girls to cover their heads
As for the covering of the eyes and the passing of the hands three times over the candles, you've probably noticed that when this is done, it's as if the light is being drawn toward the woman.
Our sages of blessed memory tell us that because of Eve's disobedience, the light went out of the world. Therefore it is fitting that her decendants be responsible for bringing His light back into the world. This is done symbolically each Sabbath which symbolizes our rest in Him. With the first passing of the hands the woman brings the light into her home, the second pass she brings the light to her family, and the third and final pass she brings the light to herself. The woman's head is usually covered as a sign of her submission to Elohim's commandments.
